A blog comment is not always necessary, but sometimes it is, especially when it is relevant. Today I want to suggest why it is valuable to learn a skill-set that will put you in control of your own financial destiny. If you have resources to protect and grow, you have two choices. Either give them to someone to manage for you or manage them yourself.

This week, wealthy investors learned an astounding lesson from Wall Street. Imagine that the ex chairman of the Nasdaq, a man with impeccable credentials over the past thirty years has been running the world's largest “Ponzi” scheme. Billions of dollars went up in smoke, and nobody suspected anything. It makes one wonder just how low can human morality go!

Greed plays a role wherever money can be made, as does fear whenever it can be lost; these are the two nemeses of traders and investors the world over.

By learning the skill set required to trade, one could avoid these disasters by learning methods to manage risk, and learning how to stand aside from both fear and greed. Although the pundits and money managers would have you believe that timing the markets is impossible and investing for the long run is the only way to grow your assets safely, I defy anyone who has bee invested in the markets, on a buy and hold basis, to make me a convincing argument in favor of the validity of this approach.

Learn to trade for yourself so that you can never be a victim of such a meltdown. Trading is not difficult. It is a skill that can be acquired. Although this site is dedicated to forex, the trading lessons really apply to all markets.

If you value your independence and want to take responsibility for your own future, why leave it to others? There are two choices, passenger or driver. You choose!
